SEQUENCE
SETUP
As first lighting artist on the show I worked in Lead capacity, interfacing directly with the CG Supervisor. I setup the initial template, final light rigs & test shots. Rigs had two distinct forms, a re-creation of the studio lighting & a hybrid rig resembling the final environment. Using custom macros, artists specified assets, their desired rig type & worldspace location.
KATANA TOOLS &
WORKFLOW
Within Katana, I developed a set re-creation and projection tool. This tool enabled lighting artists to solve HDRI locations & project elements onto lidar geometry faster & circumvented layout department resources. I implemented a complementing Nuke tool which validated the set re-creations & automated the presentation process. Both tools were used exclusively throughout production.
NUKE TOOLS &
WORKFLOW
I also devised an advanced Nuke picture-in-picture tool. An enhanced feature-set allowed artists to display various render statistics across several render engines. Due to its success & resolution independence, the tool was utilised by other departments. Lastly, I created a reference management tool, enabling an efficient, flexible method of displaying numerous reference elements in any screen location.
